By now, you’re probably aware of Wreck-It-Ralph 2, the sequel to the 2012 original that is premiering in theaters on November 21st, 2018.
Nintendo in Wreck-it-Ralph
The original had Bowser make an appearance, but Mario was nowhere to be found. Director Rich Moore later said that Nintendo was all for having Mario appear, but the team could not find an appropriate scene for Mario to appear in that wouldn’t take the spotlight away from the main story.
There have also been allegations that Nintendo didn’t allow Mario to appear because of licensing fees. Whatever the reason, Moore has stated in the past that they have a “good relationship with Nintendo” and that he is all for Mario being in the sequel.
Now, an IMDB listing has been updated to include the voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, in the movie’s credits.
IMDB is a site that is sometimes true, sometimes false. It is because of this, as well as Nintendo and the movie production team being silent on the matter, that this is just a rumor for now. If there are any further developments on this, we’ll let you know.
