eShop pages updates spark Nintendo Direct speculation

As of January 2023, it has been five months since the most recent videogame-focused Nintendo Direct, which took place in September 2022. As a result, many people are curious about when the next one will be broadcast.

Changes leading to Nintendo Direct speculation

Because of recent changes made to the Nintendo eShop, there has been a surge in the amount of chatter around an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation. The eShop pages for Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have recently been updated with new NSUIDs. This is something that is generally done before pre-orders are set to go live for certain titles, as was pointed out by user dawn on Famiboards. Although the discovery was made via a Discord discussion, Daybreak gives credit for it to lbabinz on Twitter.

In light of the fact that this is receiving a greater amount of attention than I had anticipated, I believe it is safe to assume that the NSUID update will coincide with pre-orders, just as it has done with previous titles, and that pre-orders will very likely coincide with a Direct for TotK. I’m not sure what this indicates about how close one is, but Nintendo could always simply send out a tweet about it.

Both the Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp and the Tears of the Kingdom eShop site pages have recently been updated to reflect the new NSUIDs that are associated to their respective products (or, at least, on the Canadian eShop pages).

A NSUID had not been assigned to Tears of the Kingdom until recently. The fact that it now has an NSUID indicates that pre-orders will be made available at some time in the future, maybe in the not too distant future.

It seems reasonable to expect that the opening of pre-orders will coincide with the release of a Direct.

Having said that, as of the time this article was written, Nintendo has not made any official announcements about an upcoming Nintendo Direct Presentation. In addition, considering that Nintendo has recently adopted a pattern of making announcements through shadowdropping, it is probable that any further information about these two games may be provided via shadowdropping rather than in the form of a full Direct.
