Meet Aaron Grubb
I’ve wanted to compose music since I was around five years old. I asked my parents for a piano and ultimately received one when I was six years old. I’d been playing music for a long time, but I became dissatisfied with my songwriting and other abilities approximately 9 years ago.
I chose to give up music entirely in order to devote my time to photography. I worked as a professional photographer for almost 8 years, but just before lockdown, I decided I wanted to go back into music, so I began making different genres of instrumental music on a cheap $50 secondhand keyboard and my photographic editing computer that I already had. I ultimately settled on the classical/cinematic style that I’m currently employing when I realized that this is the kind of music that I’ve always wanted to compose, but the positive feedback I received really reinforced it for me.
I had to sell some of my photographic equipment to pay for releases, album art, and expenses, but overall, lockdown provided me with the motivation I needed to complete my debut album. The sheer amount of people who now listen to it has showed me that if I keep working at it, this can become a source of income for me. It’s incredible how many people all across the globe listen to and enjoy Legend of Zelda music.
