Bloomberg – SEGA rebooting Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio as part of it’s Super Game initiative

According to Bloomberg, SEGA is now in the midst of resurrecting two iconic Dreamcast titles, which will be huge budget reboots.  This all seems to be part of the company’s Super Game plan.

The reboots are part of the Japanese company’s drive to generate recurring income streams and online communities around its software portfolio. According to the Bloomberg report, SEGA is pursuing worldwide successes such as Fortnite, so the games might be free-to-play with in-game microtransactions and will be a live service.

According to Bloomberg

The new Crazy Taxi has already been in production for more than a year, and the Tokyo-based entertainment firm hopes to release it within two to three years, according to the sources, who declined to be identified since the information is not yet public. It was included on a list of intellectual property assets that Sega planned to recapitalize by bringing them up to date in Sega’s annual report a year ago, alongside Jet Set Radio.

Both new games are still in the early phases of development and might be scrapped, according to the sources. I hope they don’t scrap Crazy Taxi because that game was so iconic.
