E3 2021 – June 15th to 17th

As IGN prepares for their own E3-style digital event this June, the dates for the next official E3 have been announced by the ESA.

E3 reimagined

The ESA says that E3 2021 will take place from June 15th to to 17th in 2021. For the time being, all that they say is that E3 2021 will be “reimagined”.

There is also no official word on whether the ESA still plans to “coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020”, something that they confirmed they would do when E3 2020 was cancelled last month.

This announcement comes only a month after the ESA confirmed the cancellation of E3 2020 in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The organizer has said it’s planning a ‘reimagined’ event for next year, though what this will involve isn’t clear just yet. The ESA’s wish to do something different is not entirely surprising though, given it’s been robbed of its opportunity to ‘shake things up’ in 2020 as it had wanted and E3 itself has, in recent years, had its relevancy called into question.
