EA Play 2022 is not happening

EA notified IGN that their annual EA Play Live event will not be held this year. While the firm has a lot of large games in the works, the timing simply isn’t working out to exhibit them all at the same time. Instead, the business will showcase particular games throughout the course of the year. EA Play was usually held in June at the E3 gaming convention.

IGN spoke with an EA official

We appreciate EA Play Live because it allows us to communicate with our players and share what’s new. This year, though, things aren’t aligning in such a way that you’ll be able to see everything on one day. We’ve got some interesting things going on at our world-class studios, and we’ll share a lot more about these projects this year when the time comes. We are looking forward to spending time with you this year!

Will there be a successor for EA Play Live?

We still don’t know. EA will undoubtedly make more game announcements this year, but we don’t know when. However, rather than one major event, spectators can anticipate smaller broadcasts spread throughout the year.

“We have exciting things occurring at our world-class studios,” the statement reads, “and we’ll share much more about these projects this year when the time is appropriate for each of them.” “We’re looking forward to spending time with you all year!”

Is there going to be an EA Play Live in 2023?

It will most likely be determined by the success of EA’s launch announcements this year. If it can create a lot of buzz without holding a single huge event, the firm will most likely stick to the same strategy in the future. However, if it fails to gain traction – or if it is overshadowed by rival publishers making major announcements during E3 week, for example – it may feel compelled to relaunch EA Play Live in 2023.
