Nintendo announced that it would not be attending this year’s Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Gamescom Opening Night Live begins on August 23rd, with just a handful companies confirmed so far, including Bandai Namco and THQ Nordic. Nintendo of Europe said in a statement that it will attend other events in Germany, but this will be disappointing for the event’s organizers.Â

Gamescom is a key event in Nintendo’s event schedule.
However, after great thought, we decided not to attend Cologne this year. Instead, users may test out the Nintendo Switch games at a variety of Germany-wide events. Previously confirmed activities include roadshows with our airstreamer and bulli, such as at the SWR Summer and the Stuttgart Children’s & Youth Festival. We have chosen to participate in the Main Matsuri Japan Festival in Frankfurt, as well as the DoKomi in Düsseldorf and the Animagic in Mannheim, for Japan and video game aficionados.
More tour stops and promotions are in the works. We hope to see many of our supporters at upcoming regional events.
