Video game music composer, Grant Kirkhope, scored the soundtracks for GoldenEye 007 and Viva Pinata, and more recently the upcoming Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope recently apologised.
He did so to all the Donkey Kong fans out there for the legendary but cringe DK Rap in Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64.
Mr. Kirkhope also said on Twitter that he wishes the great ape a happy 40th birthday and that he is honoured to have played a part in the franchises history when he working at Rare.
Happy 40th birthday to Donkey Kong, it’s an honour to have played a little part in your history and I apologise for subjecting you to that bloody awful rap!! O-KAY!! 🤣😂🤣😂

A unique style we love
Well Grant awful or not … it’s one of those things that have shaped my life growing up. And I wouldn’t want to see it any other way! And in fact it has made me look more at composers as too what game will have a killer soundtrack.
I can only look forward to the wonderful return to Mario + Rabbids which you once again scored. And seeing as the title will be bigger, I am look forward to a whole delicious and wacky soundtrack once again.
You kind sir are an outright legend and please for the love of everything sacred in gaming never change! And let’s finish it of in style;
Walnuts, peanuts, pineapple smells
Grapes, melons, oranges and coconut shells
Aww yeah!
