It’s possible that Super Mario Bros. won’t be the final name of the movie, and there’s was a chance that it will be delayed again.
What is happening with the Mario movie?
The website for Illumination Studios Paris, the animation division of Illumination, has been updated with information that doesn’t match up. “Super Mario Bros.” no longer just says “Super Mario Bros.” on their portfolio. Instead, it now says “Super Mario Bros. “Animated Film,” which makes it sound like it’s just a working title and not the final one. Why would they do that if they didn’t want to hide the fact that the rumor was spreading?
Release date still somewhat unclear
On the same website, the movie’s release date has been changed from the out-of-date “Holiday 2022” to the more accurate “Holiday 2023.” It was already known that the movie wouldn’t come out until April 2023, so the fact that the date has been pushed back even further is a bit worrying.
Illumination in the meantime has fixed their website to show that the Super Mario Bros. movie will come out in Spring 2023.
