Kirby’s 25th Anniversary Concert

The Kirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert was a series of performances given by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra around Japan in 2017 to commemorate the Kirby series’ 25th anniversary. On December 20th, 2017, a live recording of the second performance was published as a two-CD + DVD/Blu-ray package in Japan exclusively, along with a second batch of bonus songs. On June 26th, 2018, the digital versions of the CDs were published worldwide.

Except for the “Kirby Air Ride Medley,” which was led by Sakai, the concert arrangements were composed by Shogo Sakai and Megumi Ohara and conducted by Taizo Takemoto.

The same suite was played twice, albeit at two different concerts. The event was held on April 16th, 2017 in Tokyo. The second was held on June 18th of the same year in Osaka. The CD, DVD, and Blu-ray editions were all drawn from the second show.

In addition to the orchestra, both concerts included a visual display with gameplay excerpts from the games from which the music was derived, as well as staff commentary in between performances.
