Leaked Sonic’s Movie Design

Leaked Sonic’s Movie Design

At long last, it seems that we now know what Sonic will look like in the movie that is supposed to premiere this November.

Hamagami / Carroll, Inc, a marketing firm based in Hollywood, released a handful of images showing off Sonic’s movie design that is intended to be used for a “film style guide”.

Taken down

Everything related to Sonic’s design has since been removed from the site, but the short time period that they were available is all that was needed for them to appear all over the internet.

The firm released a statement as well, saying that “it was necessary to strike a balance between staying true to the Sonic brand, while appealing to a global audience, and differentiating from previous Sonic merchandise packaging”.

They also discussed the “strategic requirements” that come with the “challenge of creating a global licensing and packaging program targeted to multiple demographics”. They elaborated on that, explained that they wanted to “signal a new modern take on the brand without abandoning its core essence, appeal to a worldwide audience and clearly differentiate from previous merchandising efforts”.

Lastly, they wanted to “create a system that was versatile and modular, so that various Sonic IPs including Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, Film Sonic, Animation Sonic, and other events could be integrated seamlessly within the baseline packaging look”.

This doesn’t come straight from SEGA, so it isn’t official. However, the credibility of this rumor is quite high. We’ll likely get an official word from SEGA at their Sonic SXSW panel on March 12th.

For now let’s note our opinions on this look; Sonic my man what the hell have they done to you?! They should have gone with the Sonic Mania look in a live action form … but this … well we are not fond of it to say the least.
