Miiverse has met its end

Nintendo has officially closed the Miiverse social network this week.

Miiverse

Miiverse, the social network for the original Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS has ended. Nintendo after the previous announcement shut down the service. The network was used since its introduction for all kind of purposes, updates by developers, gaming screenshots, help for in games etc.  A mini miiverse basically like you have experienced Splatoon 2 on the Switch.

Switch Universe?

Now that the Nintendo Switch has been available for a while and many people have migrated to the new console Nintendo has no more plans for the network.

Yet as we speak from personal experience Miiverse was a nice place to conduct communication, expressing frustration etc. With the Nintendo Switch we actually have nothing similar. We have leaderboards in game (for example, see Super Mario Odyssey), we have in game communication (see Splatoon 2).

We have an eShop, without a real Virtual Console. In short, the principles for an online succes for the Nintendo Switch are missing at this point and also let’s throw achievements in there (and then again not only as in game like Super Mario Odyssey). All of which are things that would be nice but are more of must really.

We still know fairly nothing about the online service for the Nintendo Switch in our opinion and we sincerly hope that Nintendo gets it right and that there are also some featured transitioned from old Miiverse.

What would you absolutely like to see in the online service of Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch? Or what new features would you like to see? As always let us know!
