Netflix acquired Cozy Grove developer Spry Fox

Netflix announced the acquisition of Cozy Grove developer Spry Fox. The price of the contract has not been disclosed by the streaming service.

Netflix has gradually built a portfolio of mobile games as an extra bonus for online video streaming service members. Netflix already owns Next Games, Night School Studio, and Boss Fight Entertainment, all of which create games for diverse audiences.

Statement by Netflix

As we approach our first anniversary of releasing games in November, we’re pleased to announce that Spry Fox will join Netflix as our sixth in-house games studio.

Spry Fox is an award-winning indie company that specializes on intimate, unique games. Their unique approach to game production and success with titles such as Triple Town, Alphabear, and Cozy Grove will help expedite our creative growth in another favorite genre and contribute to Netflix’s increasing range of games portfolio, which will offer something for everyone.

Spry Fox co-founder Daniel Cook

“When David and I launched Spry Fox twelve years ago, our objective was to create a place where nice, talented individuals could build beautiful, unique games in a friendly atmosphere that made people happy.” We are all really happy to be joining Netflix as an in-house gaming company and working together to create incredible games.”

We are excited to work with a studio whose ideals – a persistent emphasis on employee and player happiness — are quite similar to ours. Our games adventure has only just began, but I’m happy of the fundamental work we’ve been doing to build up our in-house creative capability so that we can give the greatest possible gaming experience to our members as part of their membership, including no adverts and no in-app purchases.
