Niantic Pokemon GO Fest lawsuit settlement

It’s safe to say that last year’s Pokemon GO Fest didn’t go entirely as planned for Niantic. There were a range of issues that were well documented online and fans were not happy about the situation.

Fast forward to now and the company has announced its paying $1,575,000 from a Pokemon GO Fest related lawsuit. Attendees at the event need to click here to find out how they can receive payment; http://gofestsettlement.com/

However, according to TechCrunch “those claiming part of the settlement will need to have checked in to GO Fest through the game (presumably to prevent those who sold their tickets for a markup from getting more money out of it), and anyone claiming more than $107 in expenses will need to have receipts”. Any remaining money will be “split evenly and donated to the Illinois Bar foundation and the nonprofit organization Chicago Run”. None of the mentioned settlement money will return to Niantic’s hands.

We know that Niantic has said they have learnt their lesson from last year’s event and are giving it another shot in Chicago in the upcoming month. Still seeing the mentioned amount ($1,575,000) is insane to some extend.
