Nintendo takes down Fanmade Pokemon FPS

Nintendo has been quite busy with the recent Pokemon Legends Arceus leaks, but has also slammed the brakes on a somewhat odd fan-made Pokemon game.

The game which caught Nintendo’s eye was  a first-person shooter developed by Reddit user Dragon GameDev, characterized as a “Pokemon Safari game with weapons” in which players utilize a variety of genuine weaponry to hunt down different Pokemon. Yeah we can kinda see why Nintendo would not approve of that.

It was supposed to be the start of a year-long project in which Dragon GameDev would make a different game every month in order to learn more about game production.

“This year, I’m taking a break from my primary projects to focus on a new YouTube series where I produce odd projects in 30 days,” says Dragon GameDev. This is my very first! I didn’t reuse any code, but I did utilize a lot of assets, including the Pokémon models and animations from Sun and Moon.”

While it is an amusing mix of Pokemon and weapons, it rapidly drew a lot of attention online, much to Nintendo’s chagrin, who moved fast to remove footage of the game, including Dragon GameDev’s Youtube video outlining its creation and everything regarding it. Nintendo, presumably, did not think the proposal was entertaining, particularly because it may alter perceptions of the upcoming official release later this week.
