Pokemon TCG Online Card development to end March 1st 2023

The Pokemon Company has made the announcement that they are going to stop further development of the Pokemon Trading Card Game Online.

To be more specific, the Pokemon Trading Card Game Online will no longer get any new card sets after March 1, 2023, and the Crown Zenith set will be the very last one to be made available for download via the application. This is being done in advance of the game being replaced by Pokemon Trading Card Game Live, which is now in its beta testing phase around the world. This also implies that future card sets, such as the Scarlet/Violet series, will only be redeemable in the new app rather than the old one.

It is unknown whether or not Pokemon TCG Online will continue to be available despite the fact that there have been no updates, or whether or not The Pokemon Company will completely discontinue the site at some point in the future.

About The Pokémon Trading Card Game Online

The Pokémon Trading Card Game Online is the first Pokémon game to be released outside of Japan in the MMOTCG (massively-multiplayer online trading card game) genre. This game is available for download and is also referred to as Pokémon TCG Online or TCGO. It is modeled after the Pokémon Trading Card Game, often known as the TCG, which is a component of the Pokémon series and utilizes the same set of rules. The game was first made available to play in March 2011 as a browser-based game. In 2012, it was relaunched as a downloaded game for Windows and macOS. In 2014, it was made available for iOS on iPad, and in 2016, it was made available for Android tablets. It was formally released to the public for open beta testing in February of 2015, although it is still being tweaked and improved upon on a consistent basis. The download of the game is completely free, and it may be played successfully by players of varying skill levels. In addition, it is designed to be used by both grownups and young people alike.

Because players are given access to essential resources, and there are various ways for players to gain additional cards and other prizes as the game is played, there is no need for players to buy any actual things from a shop in order for them to participate in the game. The game includes all of the cards that were made available abroad as part of the HeartGold and SoulSilver expansion sets, and it receives regular updates that include the introduction of new items.

A successor called Pokémon Trading Card Game Live was revealed on September 20th, 2021, and given the working title. TCG Online will stop being downloadable shortly before the worldwide release of TCG Live, and its servers will be shut down at that time as well. TCG Online players will have the ability to take specific cards and equipment with them when they play TCG Live.
