Snelste softwareverkopen in historie

A new milestone for Nintendo: in history of Nintendo home consoles, never as many games where sold as on the Nintendo Switch now in such a short time frame.

This news was shared by President Shuntaro Furukawa during an interview with the Japanese Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.

System-sellers

He did not mention numbers (financial briefing at the end of January can probably tell a bit more about this), but he mentioned 2 games. And yes, it ar the obvious titles; Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Eevee! and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

They are the larger factors of software sales, but that should not be a surprise to anyone.

About Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Shuntaro also confirmed that it was able to sell at least five million copies worldwide in its first week. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has certainly not done any harm to Nintendo. The game in Europe was the fastest selling home console Nintendo game ever.

Very nice Nintendo!

Mobile

Finally, the president makes it clear that Nintendo sees the mobile market as one of their fixed pillars. Furukawa wants to launch real ‘smartphone hits’. But also multiple applications in different areas.

In a recent interview, he talked about it extensively, so it seems that in the future we will see more titles of the company on mobile devices.

And we are perhaps the least enthusiastic about the latter point. Nintendo is doing so very well with the Nintendo Switch. But they continue to support the 3DS considerably and that seems to become the same for mobile. Personally, we would rather see that Nintendo would focus even more attention on the Nintendo Switch, then they certainly achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
