Sonic Team designer – New Billy Hatcher adventure, maybe someday

Nakamura Shun, a designer for Sonic Team who worked on both the first Billy Hatcher game, which was released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003, and Sonic Frontiers, has said on Twitter that he would “want to produce” a new Billy Hatcher adventure if given the opportunity.

Mr. Shun made the remark when he was responding on Twitter to a tweet that was made by the official SEGA Forever account. This account showcases old SEGA games from years gone by. It is currently uncertain if the whole of Sonic Team would be interested in reviving the long-dormant series, but it would be wonderful to receive a fresh adventure featuring Billy Hatcher.

About Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg

Before 1991, you probably wouldn’t have guessed that a hedgehog might one day become a superhero who fights evil. Now, Sega has done it again by discovering a new star in the unlikeliest of animals: the humble chicken.

Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, which was designed by the Sonic Team, is like Sonic the Hedgehog but for hens. Sonic the Hedgehog was able to capture the attention of little spiky creatures. The highlight of the performance is a regular boy named Billy who, when the lights in his house are turned out by a flock of naughty crows, transforms into a hero dressed in a chicken costume to save the day. The crows have imprisoned the wisest members of the chicken tribe inside golden eggs after they have taken them captive. Now, the fight against the birds, the rescue of the elders, and the return of the light to the country fall on Billy’s shoulders.

When he faces the feathered foes by himself, Billy has little chance of winning. On the other hand, scattered throughout each of the levels are enormous eggs that Billy may roll about in order to crush his foes. In addition, Billy is able to utilize eggs as a springboard to bounce to higher levels or as a piledriver to do terrible damage to his foes. When Billy defeats an adversary, the defeated foe drops a piece of fruit, which Billy needs to gather in order to ‘feed’ his egg and for it to develop to an even larger size. The egg will be ready to hatch after you have gathered a sufficient amount of fruit. After that, you should hit the R button to have Billy make his rooster call. This will cause the egg to split open, revealing an adorable animal within. There are hundreds of unique eggs to discover, and each one contains a new animal (or perhaps a unique object) for the player to gather.

Some of the animals will replenish Billy’s health or give him an additional chance at life, while others will fight with Billy as backup weapons (if a newborn penguin can be considered a weapon!). Even more baffling is the existence of an egg that, according to urban legend, is home to a baby blue hedgehog. I wonder whether I should be worried about it…

In addition to the game’s primary narrative mode, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg also includes a fight mode that supports up to four players. There are three different multiplayer games available: Time Battle, Survival Battle, and Hatch Battle. Choose one to play! The objective of Time Battle is to eliminate as many competitors as possible within a certain amount of time. Players engage in combat with one another in order to choose a victor in Survival Battle. And the Hatch Battle event is a competition to see who can hatch the most eggs. Additionally, if you hatch special eggs that are hidden throughout the main game, you will be able to download additional minigames to play on a Game Boy Advance (through a connection that connects the Nintendo GameCube to the Game Boy Advance).

You will be laughing from ear to ear after reading or watching Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg because it is a zany adventure with a good sense of humor. In addition to this, you will never see a chicken in the same way again…
