Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was released in North American theaters, marking the blue blur’s return to the silver screen. So far, it seems that the film has been a hit!
According to Variety, the film grossed $30 million in its second weekend from 4,258 North American theaters. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has now grossed a total of $119.6 million in North America alone, in addition to its excellent opening weekend of $71 million!

Sonic is ready for more freedom now that he’s settled in Green Hills, so Tom and Maddie agree to leave him at home while they go on vacation. But, no sooner had they left, Dr. Robotnik reappears, this time with a new companion, Knuckles, in pursuit of an emerald with the ability to both construct and destroy civilizations. Sonic partners up with his own sidekick, Tails, and sets off on a quest to recover the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.
