Super Nintendo World Direct presentation roundup

Super Nintendo World Direct presentation roundup

Nintendo officially released their Super Nintendo World Direct presentation which have showed us quite a bit of the park.

If you have been following along with the news coverage of Super Nintendo World over the past year or two, then it’s likely that the Direct didn’t have anything major that you hadn’t heard before.

The Direct does, however, provide an in-depth look at Super Nintendo World. In fact, Miyamoto gives a complete tour of the area, talking about every nook and cranny of the things you’ll be able to see and do there. If you’re catching up on details about it, the Direct does a good job at this.

It all feels and looks super

Visitors will find themselves moving through a giant warp pipe, along with lighted lines to give the effect of moving through it! As the videogames have never really shown players how it looks like inside green pipes, this will be the first time visitors will get to experience the interior of one!

When exiting the pipe you walk into the interior foyer of Peach’s Castle – a very familiar sight for Super Mario 64 players! It even has the sun-pattern design on the floor, as well as a portrait of Bomb-omb Battlefield from the game. The portrait is holographic, and reveals Bowser Jr. as one walks by it.

And when one step into the park, they emerge from the entrance of Peach’s Castle itself! Peach’s stained glass portrait is even visible above the entrance.

Kinopio’s Cafe

Kinopio’s Cafe (Toad’s Cafe) will have the appearance of a Toad’s house from the outside. When entering the cafe, visitors will be greeted by a Chef Toad. When walking into the main seating area, they’ll find a beautiful hall with various Super Mario power-up items adorning the ceiling. More “windows” also show other Toads preparing meals in the kitchen!

Miyamoto also gave a preview of some dishes that visitors will be able to order at the eatery. These include the Super Mario Burger and Super Mushroom Pizza Bowl. (Which really looked yummy)

Band Activities

Shigeru Miyamoto also showed off more interesting and fun activities that visitors can engage in with the theme park’s special Power-Up Band accessory! While touring the park, Miyamoto once again brought attention to the ? Block, which generates one coin when bumped from below. This coin will end up in the visitor’s total tally, which can be tracked within a special mobile app.

Miyamoto teased another Power-Up Band activity which will be located near a sleeping piranha plant – but did not reveal more details about it.

Shigeru introduced a new Power-Up Band activity which takes the form of an actual minigame. Visitors start the game by scanning their band at the key symbol – after which they have to hit a POW block at the right time to send a green shell upwards to obtain a “key”.

Later in the tour, Miyamoto enters an underground location, where visitors can bump regular brown blocks to obtain coins. Visitors will also be able to scan their bands at symbols on the walls to make special images appear, such as an 8-bit Bowser! A later segment of this location shrinks visitors down, so they’ll get to hit giant ? blocks instead.

All in all … I want to go .. OR and that is what I’m hoping even more for, I hope similar version of the park finds it way to Europe.
