A brand-new animated movie based on the Super Mario Bros. universe has just been released by Illumination and Nintendo. The movie will be released on April 7, 2023 in North America and on April 27, 2023 in Japan.

Along with the official movie trailer, the official Nintendo Direct broadcast announcing the movie has been made available. Shigeru Miyamoto opened the Direct by discussing the 40-year history and influence of the Super Mario video games. He also thanked the players for sticking with these games for such a long time.
Chris Meledandri from Illumination was also presented to us. He shared his knowledge of the production and provided updates on where the film is at various points in its development.
The hero of the film, Chris Pratt, then spoke about his early memories of playing the game in a laundry. Along with our protagonist, Jack Black, who plays the villain, expressed his enthusiasm for both the movie and his part.
Finally, the Direct debuted the much anticipated official trailer, in which Mario, Toad, and Luigi each deliver a few words that serve as a sneak peek at their acting in the movie as Bowser conquers a kingdom of penguins.
