The Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge attraction at Super Nintendo World has been announced by Universal Studios Hollywood.
The theme park in Japan offers something similar called Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge. According to Universal Studios Hollywood, “guests and fans will find themselves immersed in one of the world’s biggest, most interactive experiences they have ever experienced” at the future California facility. It combines augmented reality, projection mapping technology, and physical set pieces along a moving ride track.
Enter Super Nintendo World
Guests will enter Super Nintendo World through the legendary Warp Pipe to discover the “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” attraction situated inside Bowser’s Castle.
This creative feat will immerse visitors in a multi-dimensional experience that recreates classic landscapes from the Mario Kart games, with no two races being the same. “Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge” is also one of the most intricate rides in the entertainment business.
The sophisticated ride is a multi-sensory feast of color, sound, and movement that invites guests to navigate familiar surroundings through the creative use and integration of head mounted augmented reality (AR) goggles – a key point of differentiation that sets this ride apart from other theme park attractions.
Guests will hop onboard stadium-style, four-seat Mario Kart cars inspired by the video game from the bowels of Bowser’s Castle, put on their AR goggles… They’ll be off to the races with a 3-2-1 GO! signal from Lakitu.
The idea is simple yet motivating and difficult, and it will appeal to visitors of all ages, regardless of gaming expertise. Guests will maneuver through courses underwater and in the skies as part of Team Mario to battle for the Golden Cup while collecting coins to beat Team Bowser and win.

Super Nintendo World will debut in early 2023 at Universal Studios Hollywood. Fans may now visit the Feature Presentation retail shop, which sells products such as Mario and Luigi related attire, famous character headgear, and a variety of plush characters such as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Bowser.
