Limited Run Games has provided further information on the upcoming physical release of A Boy and His Blob: Retro Collection for the Nintendo Switch. This was initially revealed in June of last year, but at the time, there was very little information available.
Both a normal edition and a Classic Edition of A Boy and His Blob: Retro Collection will be available for purchase on Switch. The latter comes with a two-disc soundtrack bundle, a pair of keychains styled like vintage cartridges, and both games packaged in a nostalgic box shaped like a Game Boy.
This Retro Collection features the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) version of A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia, as well as the Game Boy version of The Rescue of Princess Blobette. Experience a journey down memory lane and relive some of the most memorable platforming experiences of all time, but don’t forget to bring your jellybeans with you!
A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia (NES)
Blob has traveled all the way from the faraway planet Blobolonia in quest of a youngster from earth who can assist him in saving his home planet.
Come along with him on this incredible journey as you explore the enigmatic caves deep under the ground in quest of riches. After that, make your way to Blobolonia and engage in combat with the corrupt ruler there.
Learn about the incredible hunger that Blob has for jellybeans, as well as the many alterations that occur with each flavor. Figure out how to utilize these geometric forms to get around even the most difficult challenges. A Boy and His Blob is an incredible adventure that is packed with hilarious cameo appearances from a wide cast of people.
The Rescue of Princess Blobette (Game Boy)
That’s right, the gummy-bean-obsessed Blob and his steadfast Earth-boy sidekick are making their triumphant return in an all-new escapade! This time around, the duo’s adventures take them to the Royal Castle of Blobolonia, Blob’s home planet, where they make an attempt to rescue the lovely Princess Blobette from the clutches of the treacherous Antagonistic Alchemist. Princess Blobette is currently being held captive by the Antagonistic Alchemist.
In the depths of the castle’s labyrinth, our heroes will run into hidden chambers, cunning traps, and perilous barriers. Join them as they face these challenges! But not all is lost since these two people have something extremely unique between them: When the kid feeds Blob a certain type of jelly bean, Blob will miraculously morph into a new shape that this courageous duo can use to get around just about anything the Alchemist can dream up.
Includes both the American and Japanese versions of the game, allowing players to compare and contrast the distinctive qualities of each iteration.
