A Hat In Time – File size 4x larger

The long awaited Nintendo Switch port for A Hat in Time finally released but many players have complained about its performance and file size.

But … why?

Sadly … yeah there is a big but. While it isn’t unusual to hear PC and PS4 games such as Dragon Quest XI S and Valkryia Chronicles 4 shrinking in file size after they are ported to Nintendo Switch, A Hat in Time is the complete opposite.

Nintendo Switch owners were shocked after discovering that A Hat in Time takes up a whopping 16GB of space on the Nintendo Switch. That’s a few gigabytes more than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Dragon Quest XI S.

Which seems rather weird as the game is much much smaller.

Why?

Also unexplainable is the fact the Switch port takes up double the space of the PC version, and is about 4 times larger than the PS4 version, which takes up 4GB of space. This led to some players criticizing Gears for Breakfast for poorly optimizing the Nintendo Switch version of A Hat in Time.

We just hope that Gears for Breakfast listens to the given feedback and makes sure that they get them resolved before the physical release of the game takes place. For reference that should be November 8th.

But we are rather uncertain if they will be able to .. and that will surely upset gamers even more.
