Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 90% initial stock sold in Japan

Dengeki Online published an update about Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ sales figures in Japan.

According to the publications’ figures, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has sold around 1,831,859 copies in Japan for its first week, which is a whopping 90% of its initial stock.

In other words, it’s selling much more than Nintendo did expect.

And these are only physical sales

Notably this only counts physical sales, and with the addition of digital these figures are likely to be much bigger.

The previous title Animal Crossing: New Leaf sold only 559,000 units in its first week, and a total of 4 million in its lifespan. The highly anticipated Pokémon Sword and Shield sold 1.5 million copies in its first week in Japan. So yeah there is a lot of Animal Crossing love to be found in Japan.
