About Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus

In Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, a “never-before-told story” from Japanese folklore, players take on the role of a Tentaihana, a flower that fell from the sky to take part in a mysterious ancient ritual. The main weapon for the character is a special staff, which can also be used to unlock magical skills as the game goes on. People have said that Okami, Hollow Knight, Paper Mario, Spirited Away, Attack on Titan, and other games and anime inspired them.

Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is a hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania platformer set in a colorful world of Japanese folklore. Use your legendary b staff to bounce and move smoothly through a delightfully demonic East Asian fever dream. Use the tight movement and reset system to get to places quickly and gracefully, or use it to get back on your feet after falling down.

A familiar 2D side-scrolling action platformer that combines classic hand-drawn animation and scenery with new atmospheric bells and whistles that make the experience feel both new and cozy.

Tight controls for platform games. B feels great to control, and players will feel like they have a lot of freedom as they get into the flow state and solve the difficult platforming challenges.

Discover a strange world! The world of B is wide open and full of links. Explore everything from haunted bathhouses to a bustling city that looks like it was built by the Japanese. Find ways to go back to places you thought you’d already seen everything in and open up new paths and surprises.

Find out how to use powerful new skills! Brew and drink arcane teas to unlock B’s ability to change the shape of her staff. The Mochi Mallet, Blossom Dash, and the Grappling Gun are all part of the set.

Daruma doll Get a boost! Collecting daruma dolls along your journey will help you tune your skills and give you unique advantages (or disadvantages). All daruma dolls start out with one eye done. They can be changed into a 2-eyed daruma whose perk is better than the original’s. These cute daruma dolls will be with you every step of the way.

There are a lot of weird and cute yokai (Japanese monsters from folklore) and original characters based on Japanese cultural archetypes. Traditional 2D frame-by-frame animation is used to bring all of these characters and enemies to life. Help them with their side quests, or just drop by for a chat and a cup of tea.

Great boss fights! On your journey, you’ll meet a lot of huge monsters from Japanese mythology. Use what you’ve learned and learned how to do to beat them and move forward in your quest.

Beautiful hand-drawn areas and landscapes that make you feel like you are really there.

Moises Carmago wrote a beautiful original score that blends traditional Japanese instruments with modern orchestral music in a beautiful way.
