Chocobo GP – Coming changes and improvements

Chocobo GP producer Hironori Okayama detailed the tweaks and enhancements coming to the Nintendo Switch racer in a long letter to fans.

First and foremost, the team is aware of a number of critical flaws that will be fixed “as quickly as feasible.” Square Enix has also altered the Prize Level system to make leveling up simpler, as well as lowered the criteria for reaching level 100. “We will update the basic game mechanism to provide a fair and balanced competitive environment and boost enjoyment,” Okayama said.

Chocobo GP  upcoming changes

To all of our players,

I apologize for any trouble caused by issues in the competitive modes of the game and our lack of prior information.

The development team has banded together to resolve all of the issues as quickly as possible.

We’ve also heard a lot of different perspectives on how further DLC should be introduced. We are taking your input seriously and will devote all of our resources to ensuring that future upgrades please all fans who have bought the game.

The first adjustment we made was to make it simpler to improve your level in Chocobo GP ode by changing the Prize Level system.

We’ve also relaxed the general criteria, making it simpler to achieve level 100 in particular. We hope that gamers take advantage of this opportunity to gain Cloud or new cars.

We’ve also adjusted the metagame with our new design philosophy, making it simpler for players to gain new characters after purchasing the retail edition of the game.

Taking this a step further, we’ll now feature cosmetic goods, such as non-game-affected outfits, as high-level Prize Pass prizes or things for sale in the Mythril Shop.

We’re open to making further adjustments to the game, and we’ll continue to take any input into consideration as we work to improve it even more in the future.

We’re also thinking about reducing some of the limitations on the Lite edition to make it simpler for broadcasters to host events, so stay tuned for more information.

The following are the most common defects that have been reported:

  • Purchase-related errors caused by changes in the program version.
  • A problem with matching that prevents certain players from entering the ready state and participating in a race.
  • A problem in which the race start time is off.
  • Races that do not conclude properly, such as the results screen appearing before the predetermined number of laps have been completed, and so on.

We’re working on resolving these problems right now.

We’d want to offer an update as soon as possible to resolve these problems, so stay tuned for further details.

We recognize that some players are unable to play the Chocobo GP mode effectively, and we have put in place the following measures to remedy this:

Softening of the score ranges necessary to raise your Prize Level – this easing will apply to all future levels attained above the player’s current level. There will be times when a player’s level is quickly raised.

Customers who have inquired about the above-mentioned problem will be contacted individually.

Seasons

In-game seasons will vary about every two months in the future, and updates will be issued as the season changes.

The following is a list of the primary topics that will be covered in these updates.

1. Addition of new characters

In addition to the 24 characters accessible exclusively with the retail edition of the game, two more characters will be introduced for each season.

In season one, the following two characters are available:

Squall: Players who buy the retail version of the game may acquire Squall using Gil earned in the Chocobo GP mode and daily/weekly tasks.

As the seasons pass, more products will be added to the Gil Shop.

Cloud: Can be earned by increasing your Prize Level to 60 if you possess the retail version of the game and a Prize Pass.

Raising the Prize Level unlocks limited-edition goods for that season, which will be replaced with each new season.

*We’re also thinking about making these goods accessible in a different form in the future, so that people who began playing later won’t be left out.

2. New tracks

We want to introduce additional songs to the game that will be accessible to all players, regardless of whether they have the lite or retail edition.

Season two will see the addition of additional music.

*The degree to which a player may utilize the new tracks is determined on the technical limitations of the version of the game they are playing (lite or retail edition).

3. New Mythril outfits and goods are now available for purchase.

Additional Chocobo outfits and other things are available in the Mythril Shop for season one.

Throughout the season, fresh additions to the line-up will be made, including new BGM and season-exclusive costumes.

*Mythril may be acquired as a log-in bonus or bought directly in season one, but starting in season two, it will also be available as a Prize Level reward.

4. Enhancements to the game’s functioning and balance

We’ll continue to update the main game mechanics in the future to provide a fair and balanced competitive environment while also improving enjoyment.

*Any faults that need to be addressed right now will not have to wait until the start of the following season.
