Crystar, a new action RPG for the Nintendo Switch, has received a launch video from NIS America. The game has just recently been released.
About Crystar
Rei and Mirai are sisters who are transported into Purgatory, a frightening land filled with unearthly beasts. Rei not only learns a secret strength that helps her to fight back in this weird environment, but it also leads to her demise when she loses control and mistakenly murders her sister Mirai.
“I’m terrified… Could you just take my hand in yours? Exactly like previously… Please?”
Rei is overcome with sadness and despair when she is contacted by Demons who offer her a dark contract: serve as their Executioner and clear Purgatory of the corrupted beasts that afflict them in exchange for the ability to resurrect her sister. Rei will uncover the facts of the fractured souls inside Purgatory as she joins forces with a group of fellow Executioners, including Kokoro, Sen, and Nanana, each with their own special skills. Finally, as she urgently looks for a means to rescue her sister and return home, Rei must struggle with the monsters surrounding her and inside herself.
Crystar immerses you in a bleak universe populated by lost people, where your tears provide you strength. Swap between a cast of various playable characters, each with their own strengths, to take on swarms of insane Specters and Revenants. In combat, build up your Tear Gauge and use it to call powerful Guardians to assist you. When vanquished adversaries’ torments threaten to overwhelm you with despair, cry and lament to find catharsis and draw power from your sorrows to improve your attacks and armor.

Crystar has four playable characters, allowing players to fully use each character’s distinct build and skill set while also highlighting their personalities and narrative. The following are the key playable characters:
- Rei, the protagonist of the game, who yearns to resurrect the sister she murdered.
- Kokoro, a lady seeking vengeance for the death of the man and child she loves.
- Sen is a little girl who fights for the justice she believes in in Purgatory.
- Nanana, a mysterious humanoid Revenant who is enamored with Rei.
- Each character, whether playable or not, contributes to Crystar’s intriguing story.
