Curious Expedition 2 – Robots of Lux DLC, a SteamWorld Heist collaboration

As part of the Robots of Lux DLC for Curious Expedition 2, Thunderful and Maschinen-Mensch have shown off a new SteamWorld Heist collaboration with Maschinen-Mensch. The Nintendo Switch version came out on September 15, 2022.

Robots of Lux lets players take control of two new characters, including the steam-powered pirate Captain Piper Faraday and the Naturalist, a new character lead added to the Curious Expedition 2 universe.

About Curious Expedition 2: Robots of Lux

In Curious Expedition 2: Robots of Lux, you can push the limits of engineering and science and find new truths by navigating your way around Paris. Lux Lab’s Edibot is always coming up with new ideas. This has torn a hole in the SteamWorld Universe and pulled in some new explorers. In Curious Expedition 2: Robots of Lux, players can control Captain Piper Faraday, who is everyone’s favorite steam-powered pirate.

The DLC also adds a new character, the Naturalist expedition leader, to the world of Curious Expedition 2. The Naturalist has the ability to tame wild animals, which will change how you approach each adventure and add a wild, beastly twist to the unexpected.

This collaboration DLC also adds brand-new playable characters, a new location in Paris, new equipment, and new items. Once the DLC is turned on, it will give the game more options in both Campaign Mode and Director Mode.

  • There are two expedition leaders: Piper Faraday from SteamWorld Heist and the Naturalist, who can use Edibot’s new Luxballs to tame almost any animal in the game, even the Giant Crab!
  • You can hire Billy Gill, Valentine Butterbolt, and the Yeti, all of whom are humanoids from SteamWorld Heist.
  • 1 mountable animal that can be recruited: the Robot Chameleon.
  • One place in Paris is the Old Theater, where you can freeze a character to use later and shop for robot team members and gear.
  • Shield Belt, Plasma Spider, and PR3-S5 are three pieces of gear.
  • Two pieces of equipment for pack animals: a Tesla Coil and a Buzz Saw.
  • There are seven things: a battery, a prototype remote control, a field kitchen, an EdiBot map, coffee, coffee beans, and an artificial meal.

Riad Djemili, CEO of Maschinen-Mensch, said of today’s announcement, “At Maschinen-Mensch, we’ve been working with Thunderful since the original console launch of Curious Expedition. As huge fans of the SteamWorld Universe, we’re proud to have been given the chance to put some of the most famous characters from the series into the world of Curious Expedition 2. The Robots of Lux DLC is the last part of Curious Expedition 2, and we’re sure fans will love it.
