The worst part was that many Nintendo Switch users bought ARK: Survival Evolved when it was first launched without realizing how bad the performance and aesthetics were. It was one of the worst conversions many of us have seen on the Nintendo Switch.
For those who bought the original, the team has thankfully now published a new version that was created entirely for the Nintendo Switch and is available as a free update. Since then, Digital Foundry has investigated the matter and has been highly pleased with what they have played of ARK Ultimate Survivor Edition, calling it “one of the worst transfers ever” and even “one of the most outstanding Unreal Engine 4 games we’ve seen on Nintendo Switch.”Â

“The game has undergone a full transformation with the latest edition. The game went from being a horrible, unplayable mess to one of the most amazing Unreal Engine 4 games we’ve seen on the Nintendo Switch. It’s one of the largest changes we’ve ever seen. It has been completely redesigned and almost all of our old game’s criticisms have been addressed.
“The relatively poor resolution of the original release is replaced with a beautiful appearance, which gives off a very favorable first impression. For docked and mobile play, respectively, the developer Grove Street Games is aiming for 1080p and 720p, with dynamic resolution combining with TAA upscaling to offer a clean image. The DRS window ranges from 55% to 100% of output resolution, although generally speaking, what I saw appeared to work at around the mid-point of 70%. In any case, it endures nicely.
That being the case, only less demanding regions should exceed the game’s 30 frame-per-second limit, with reasonably intricate sections often hovering in the 24-27fps range. Although it is far from flawless, it is at least playable and fits with common expectations, even if it seems that frame rates may drop even lower during online modes.

A difficult subdue-and-protect method may be used to tame over 80 different species. putting a wild animal to sleep by weakening it, then reviving it. Once tamed, you may give orders to your Pet, and depending on how effectively you’ve taught and tamed it, it may comply. Pets continue to level up, eat, and carry equipment and inventory. Fly over the mountains on a Pteranodon, sprint through the jungle with a group of Raptors, or ride a T-Rex to hunt prey! Discover a dynamic ecosystem with its own hierarchy of predators and prey. Breed pets to develop the greatest qualities across many generations. Or, to put it more simply, produce and nurture Dino Babies!
WATER, FOOD, CLIMATE, AND WEATHER
To exist, one must eat and drink, and various foods—including flesh from humans!—have varying nutritional benefits. Long-distance travel is taxing, as are any activities that use up food and water. The environment changes according to the day/night cycle, inventory weight, and weather. To defend oneself from harm and the elements, make clothes, construct a shelter, and utilize fire.
RECOVER, MAKE, AND PAINT THINGS
To become a master craftsman, gather trees, ore, and other materials. To create more sophisticated and powerful gear, use your hands, a Smithy, or a Fabricator. Utilize modular elements made of thatch, wood, stone, and metal to create a huge foundation. Paint your foundation and put up signage that you can really scribble on to personalize it. You may paint things like armor, clothes, and weapons to show off your own aesthetic.
CALLS UP THE FINAL LIFE FORMS
To awaken the legendary monsters of the ARK, bring rare materials to designated Summon spots. When they do, they come prepared for combat. For the most seasoned Tribes and their Pets, defeating these monstrosities offers a final objective and rewards precious treasures.
RPG STATISTICS
Level-Up your survivor by accumulating experience via in-game activities to discover higher level item blueprints in the most hazardous areas of the ARK or learn new crafting engrams. Using a sophisticated character creation system, you may alter the appearance of your character.
CONTROL MECHANICS
If an item is not fixed after usage, it will lose its durability. Your character is still “sleeping” in the persistent environment after you exit the game. Additionally, your inventory persists in the persistent universe and is robbable. Death results in irreparable loss, and you may even make other players your slaves for your own gain.
