Digital Foundry – Breath of the Wild 2 will be on current Nintendo Switch

We were earlier shown a little amount of new video from the long-awaited The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, and it was noted that the graphics were possibly a touch too excellent for the regular Nintendo Switch hardware.

Implying that the footage came from an enhanced Switch such as the long-rumored Nintendo Switch Pro. Digital Foundry just released a video discussing different industry occurrences, and the team explicitly states that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will work on the current Nintendo Switch hardware.

They believe, however, that it will be a cross-gen game for whatever Nintendo has planned in terms of hardware and their existing models.

Digital Foundry clarifies

Others assume we said that the game will not be released on Switch at all, which is plainly not the case – it has been announced! These tales are based on our discussion of Breath of the Wild 2 in DF Direct Weekly #55. Finally, the new clip demonstrated quality and effects that well above anything we’ve seen from any Switch game so far, even those from Nintendo’s first-party developers. Maybe it’ll be a cross-generation Nintendo game like the original? We’ll simply have to wait and see what happens.
