First Nintendo Switch emulator for Android

First Nintendo Switch emulator for Android

Following the development of the Android operating system for Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch homebrew community has launched the first experimental Nintendo Switch emulator for Android.

MonoNX

The emulator, called MonoNX, is only capable of console output and runs at a 0.3 frames per second.  As console output emulators could only display text and could not display graphics, this means MonoNX isn’t powerful enough to run Nintendo Switch games but only simple homebrew applications.

So while this is a cool development for sure, it is not going the piracy route in playing commercial games.

The emulator also has a requirement; you will need a smartphone that has at least 4GB of RAM to render the lines of text. Otherwise it’s a no-go at all.

Emulation is always some form of threat to Nintendo but for the time being Nintendo Switch emulation is still quite some time (years) of.

Also note; this article is only here to inform you of this development in the homebrew scene. We in no way condone or promote piracy. Discussion is fine but if that goes that route we will take action.
