Future Nintendo system might be backward compatible …. wow!

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa is faced with a conundrum in terms of how to transition the bulk of consumers from the company’s wildly successful Nintendo Switch family of devices to future Nintendo platforms.

It’s definitely something the firm will have to consider as it continues to prepare for whatever system the Kyoto-based company will release next for gamers. We learned today that Nintendo has sold over 100 million Switch consoles globally since its March 2017 introduction, putting the device around halfway through its lifespan, according to Furukawa.

Backwards compatible … wow

  • Q: What are your thoughts on the 98m against the next console?
    • A: We’re in our sixth year of Switch, and we’re still doing strong. We’re looking at ways to extend and increase our 100 million users as we prepare for the next generation device (which seems like it’ll be backward compatible!)

Wow … finallly

I have been hoping for backward compatibility for the Nintendo eco-system for so long. I hope this really happens, as this will make it the best Nintendo generation ever, no questions asked.
