Improving console family’s profitability – selling it as long as possible

Nintendo’s financial results briefing ended a couple of weeks ago, but Nintendo only just recently released the English translation of the Q&A segment.

It’s a keeper!

During the Q&A, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa addressed the Nintendo Switch family’s pricing, explaining that “we want to maintain the value of our products and sell them at their current price points for as long as possible, so we have no plans to reduce prices at this time.

Because profitability can fluctuate depending on quantities produced in the future, we’re not estimating any specific decrease in cost. We want to improve profitability by increasing the number of units sold and selling the Nintendo Switch family of hardware for as long as possible”.

Well that is not a bad thing, but I do hope they go through a revision cycle every 3-4 years if I’m being honest. The Nintendo Switch is great but it should grow steadily as well. As long as they keep with the current eco-system for the lack of better wording … I’m all in.
