Jennifer Hale confirmed as new voice actress of Bayonetta

According to PlatinumGames, Jennifer Hale has replaced Hellena Taylor as the voice actor for Bayonetta in Bayonetta 3.

That fact was mentioned by the director Yusuke Miyata in a Game Informer interview. He revealed to the magazine that “overlapping circumstances” were to blame for the shift. Jennifer’s performance, according to Miyata, “was well above anything we could have dreamed,” he or she did add.

Miyata on the new Bayonetta voice

It was challenging for Hellena Taylor to repeat her performance due to a number of overlapping situations. We organized casting sessions to find a new voice for Bayonetta, and we selected Jennifer Hale as a strong fit for the part. Although Jennifer’s performance went much above and above what we could have expected, I can see the reservations some fans have regarding the voice change at this stage in the series. Her depiction of Bayonetta will, in my opinion, go above and beyond what our fans have come to anticipate.

Although Game Informer said that “it’s not startling,” some fans may not be on board with the voice actress change for Bayonetta 3 given that Hellena Taylor has been a part of the franchise from the very beginning. Additionally, it may be interesting to note that Atsuko Tanaka continues to voice Bayonetta in the game for those who are staying with the Japanese version.

Hale has provided voiceovers for video game characters for over three decades. She performed a variety of roles, including Ashe in Overwatch, Commander Shepard (female) in Mass Effect, and Samus Aran in the Metroid Prime series.

Game Informer also inquired as to which Bayonetta we were controlling in the third installment and if Cereza had any significance. But considering the utilization of the multiverse in this game, Miyata could “neither confirm nor deny if she is a grown-up version of Cereza,” adding that “she may be Bayonetta from an alternative universe who just so happens to look like Cereza.”

About Bayonetta 3

The witch has returned and she is stronger than ever!

In a brand-new, outrageously climactic action game for the Nintendo Switch, Bayonetta strides across several settings. The titular Umbra Witch must use her trademark weapons and time-slowing Witch Time skill to battle a mystery evil while donning a terrible new outfit and strangely recognizable pigtails. This time, Bayonetta is on the prowl for invading Homunculi, man-made bioweapons.

On October 28, 2022, Bayonetta 3 for the Nintendo Switch will be released.
