Producer Ryo Ishida discussed the possibilities of the Klonoa IP in an interview with gaming magazine Lock-On, including the prospect of future remasters and expansion.
If the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series “is well received by the community,” Ishida says, “there may be potential to further develop the Klonoa IP and make further remasters of other games as well.” Bandai Namco is now attempting to “raise awareness and revive the Klonoa IP.”
Ishida’s noted
“With Klonoa, since there have been big gaps between the release of the games, we opted to release this title around the 25th anniversary’s timing so people may play the original [games] first.” If the community enjoys this restored edition, there may be potential to grow the Klonoa IP and remake additional games as well. The initial purpose and concept behind the [Phantasy Reverie Series] is to raise awareness and rekindle interest in the Klonoa IP.”
Moa Ikeuchi, marketing manager, also chimed in, saying:
“The primary demographic is experienced players who still like Klonoa.” Klonoa, as you know, is a title and character that many people still adore and support. We were able to effectively innovate and present the remastered edition on the 25th anniversary thanks to these seasoned gamers and our existing fans […]. Along with the memories of our current fans, we’ve made the game more attractive and [suited for younger gamers] as well as others who haven’t [found Klonoa] yet. As a result, although seasoned gamers are our primary focus, we hope that a wide range of game lovers will appreciate and experience the beauty and appeal of the original Klonoa games.”
On July 8, 2022, Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series will be released on the Nintendo Switch. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil are included.

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil are being remastered for the franchise’s 25th anniversary in a two-in-one collection dubbed KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series, which will be released on the Nintendo SwitchTM, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam.
Klonoa’s famous setting and original gameplay have been carefully retained, while the aesthetics have been elegantly redesigned.
The remaster also has a configurable difficulty level, enabling series novices to get straight into the action while allowing long-time fans to easily familiarize themselves.
