Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope – No multiplayer?!

There won’t be any kind of multiplayer mode in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. Quentin Correggi, who helped make the game, says that’s the case.

One of the things Nintendo Everything talked about was whether or not the game will have PvP like the original. So, it was confirmed that Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will not have any multiplayer. Instead, it will be “exclusively a solo experience. Correggi told Nintendo Everything that the team wanted to make a “much more ambitious” sequel to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, so they decided to “focus as much as possible on delivering the solo experience that is the core of the game.

Corrreggi on Sparks of Hope multiplayer

So Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope won’t have any multiplayer at all. And I can explain why in a bit more detail.

When we make a project that is so ambitious… and once again, we decided to be much more ambitious on every single pillar than we were in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle… It’s important to “choose your battle,” and that’s good because we’re also making a tactical game about battles! But for us, it was really important to put as much effort as we could into making the core of the game, which is the solo experience. And it was much easier and more effective to get the whole team to focus on giving the best possible experience. So yeah, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is a 100% single-player game.”

In the first Mario + Rabbids, players could play together with someone else on the same system. This was called “local co-op.” A few months after the game came out, a new mode called “Versus” was added that let players fight each other locally and use random bonus items.
