About Meg’s Monster

One of these monsters, a massive ogre by the name of Roy, has absolutely no desire to consume human beings. But one day, he and his closest buddy Golan come across a small girl called Meg who is lost, and they find something really terrifying: the instant she starts sobbing in distress, a blood-red color washes over the sky, and the ground itself begins to quiver and quake.

That’s right: the tears of this little child have the potential to usher in the end of the world, and the only way for them to prevent this from happening is to assist the kid’s mother in locating her and bringing her back home to safety.

Meg’s Monster is a quick, narrative-focused JRPG with a significant plot surprise. The players take control of Roy, who begins the game with 99,999 hit points and is almost impossible to harm; nevertheless, the actual worry is keeping Meg safe, since the game is immediately over for everyone if she starts sobbing. The players will be tasked with defending Meg and utilizing her favorite toys to keep her calm while also mastering the one-of-a-kind mechanics and minigames that are baked into each and every fight.

Throughout the course of their voyage together, Roy and Meg will come across a large cast of eccentric and bright characters, all of whom have been painstakingly recreated in Odencat’s signature style of brilliant pixel art, which manages to make even terrifying creatures seem endearing. There is a good deal of tension and mystery to be discovered here, and by participation in the many optional sub-events, one may even become friends with foes they had previously vanquished.

What starts off as a rather straightforward and endearing tale about two people who would never expect to become friends gradually develops into something far more significant as Roy and Meg start to piece together the secrets that surround the Underworld as well as themselves. The end effect is an emotional voyage that, much like a well-written novel, will stay ingrained in your memory for many years to come.

Meg’s Monster is currently available as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch.
