Metroid Dread – UK’s Best Selling 2D Metroid Game ever

The president of GameIndustry.biz, Christopher Dring, has released some fresh information on Metroid Dread’s sales success in the United Kingdom.

Metroid Dread has now become the best-selling 2D Metroid game of all time in the United Kingdom, and the third best-selling Metroid game overall in the area, after Metroid Prime and Prime 3. However, these data exclude digital sales, prompting Dring to believe that if digital sales were included, it would already be the best-selling Metroid game in the area.

Of course, considering the Metroid franchise’s recent struggles with profitability, this is a huge accomplishment for Mercurysteam and Nintendo. Hopefully, Metroid Prime 4 and whatever additional Metroid games are in development behind the scenes will be able to maintain this pace going ahead.
