Minecraft – Version 1.19.20 patch notes

Mojang has released version 1.19.20 of Minecraft, which is the latest update. The new Create New World screen was added to the game only for Nintendo Switch.

There are some changes, as well as a huge number of fixes.

Version 1.19.20 patch notes

  • What’s new is:
    • Changes: Added the new Create New World screen to the Nintendo Switch.
    • Support for clicking with the middle mouse button on iOS
    • On hard, zombies now have a 10% chance of being able to break down doors (MCPE-79636)
    • Added new art and text to the Marketplace error screen
    • The time you have to join a multiplayer game has been cut from 180 seconds to 90 seconds.
    • You can now hold down D-Pad Left to move the cursor to the left in menus (MCPE-155976)
    • Instant effects (like Potions and Arrows with Points) can no longer be used on dead mobs or players.
    • Basalt Deltas now plays the song “So Below” (MCPE-70890)
    • Changed the way the menu toggle switches work to make it easier to tell when they are on or off.
  • Known Problems:
    • We had to temporarily undo the fix for MCPE-105487, which can cause textures to turn pink after playing on a server for a long time, because of an issue that caused the game to crash.
    • This means that this bug might keep happening until we find a way to fix it. We appreciate your patience as we keep working on this important problem. We hope to have it fixed as soon as possible.
  • Fixes:
    • Stability and Performance
      • When going to the Marketplace, the game no longer crashes.
      • Fixed a bug that caused Spawn Eggs to crash (MCPE-159302)
      • Keep client and server portal travel from getting out of sync when the render distance is low (MCPE-158167)
      • Fix a crash that could happen when going from the Nether or The End back to the Overworld
      • When you go to the Coin Starter Bundle Screen, the game no longer crashes.
      • Fixed bugs that could cause the client’s state to be out of sync with the server if an item use failed or was canceled.
      • Improved the performance of the locate biome command to stop the server from stalling when looking for a far-away biome (MCPE-157609)
      • Fixed a crash that could happen when connected devices, like gamepads, were missing
      • Fixed a bug that caused a crash when a Villager changed jobs while trading. If a Villager changes jobs in the middle of a trade, the Trade screen will now close.
      • Fixed a crash that could happen when Pistons were extending or retracting near moveable blocks and Arrows
      • Fixed a bug that caused Xbox and PlayStation Marketplace to crash when you looked at more than one category.
      • Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash if you teleported and killed an entity in the same tick.
    • Gameplay
      • The Wandering Trader will no longer spawn in water, lava, or underground, like in Java Edition (MCPE-46911)
      • Fixed a bug that caused Bows and Crossbows to not shoot an arrow the first time they were used. This also happened when Tridents were thrown (MCPE-159467)
      • Fixed a bug that kept the new Wild Update music from playing in Creative mode in the Wild Update biomes.
      • Fixed a bug that stopped fisherman villagers at max level from offering to sell boats.
      • The hidden door to the Redstone room in the middle of an Ancient City now opens and closes correctly (MCPE-156718)
      • Lava in Buckets will no longer disappear if it can’t be poured into a full block or if it’s only partially filled (MCPE-50664)
      • Fixed a bug where mobs with ranged weapons didn’t get their enchantments (MCPE-113623)
      • The volume of the Amethyst step chime when a crowd walks on it has been set.
      • Fixed a bug that kept some durable items from being made from the Creative inventory.
      • Sculk Patches are made more often in old cities (MCPE-154229)
      • When a player goes through a Nether portal at Y=-21 or below, they no longer take damage (MCPE-154888)
      • Fixed a problem where scores weren’t being put in the right order on scoreboards (MCPE-141427)
      • Fixed a bug that caused fishing hooks to drop loot when killed with the /kill command (MCPE-142329)
      • Soul Sand now turns on and off a player’s Soul Speed the right way (MCPE-157152)
      • Fixed a bug that made health boost show the wrong amount of health, which made the player go invisible and unable to interact with the world when they died.
      • When trading, the Villager makes the right sound based on the item in the input slot (MCPE-152555)
      • Skulls in Ancient Cities are now more like how they look in the Java Edition (MCPE-153547)
      • When a format version of 1.19.20 or higher is given, allow event filters in the root definition to be evaluated regardless of the order or randomization.
      • Fixed a problem with the health boost not giving extra lives (MCPE-153504)
    • Mobs
      • Polar bears no longer run away when they are attacked.
      • The flapping of tadpoles on land now looks more like the Java Edition and the speed of fish (MCPE-154316)
      • When the player wears Gold Armor, Piglins will no longer attack (MCPE-65516)
      • Zombie Villagers without jobs can now ride Minecarts and Boats (MCPE-76831)
      • Ravager can now destroy Mangrove Leaves, Azalea, Azalea Leaves, Cave Vines, Dripleaves, Spore Blossoms, and Hanging Roots (MCPE-156551, MCPE-125322)
      • When a custom mob is released from a bucket, it now spawns the right kind of mob.
      • Fixed the order in which a bucketed mob is created when it is released. This means that any Actor Properties on it will load correctly.
      • When in a Boat, Allays can now pick up and drop off items for their owner (MCPE-156377)
      • Allay can now always pick up Scaffolding blocks that have fallen (MCPE-157512)
      • Now, Allay knows to stop dancing when the music from the Jukebox stops.
      • Allays now look at players as possible targets (MCPE-158222)
      • When fish are put in a water block by itself, they no longer shake.
      • Fixed a bug that caused red Wolves to spawn when entity born or on tame events were used to call them.
      • A bug that could stop Witches from spawning has been fixed. The Witch Hut building is now set to spawn Witches on the surface (MCPE-60552)
      • The Ender Dragon can no longer break Crying Obsidian, Respawn Anchor, Light, Deny, Allow, Border, and Jigsaw blocks (MCPE-158343). A bug that caused baby mobs with the minecraft:behavior.sleep goal to have a smaller hitbox has been fixed (MCPE-46040)
      • Now, Allays and Bees are less likely to get stuck in blocks that aren’t full (MCPE-155777)
      • Wardens can now tell if a player is sneaking on top of a Sculk Sensor (MCPE-155804)
      • Warden can now let itself fall down up to 20 blocks instead of just 3. (MCPE-158304)
      • Allays can now pick up armor pieces with a different durability than the one they’re holding (MCPE-158339)
      • When an entity dies, its information is now taken out of the world file (MCPE-155283)
      • Fixed a bug that could keep mobs from loading into the world if their saved y-position was greater than or equal to 25 Blocks
      • Mangrove Wood Planks, Stairs, and Slabs no longer have the word “Wood” in their names (MCPE-156791)
      • Even when the random ticking speed is set to 0, Twisting Vines and Weeping Vines that have no support now grow (MCPE-69305)
      • Hanging Mangrove Propagules that are not at their maximum growth no longer drop a Propagule item when silk is touched (MCPE-156821)
      • Muddy roots of mangrove trees can now be put on their sides (MCPE-153721)
      • The color of the Hanging Mangrove Propagule no longer changes when certain blocks are near it (MCPE-156570)
      • The name of the End Portal Frame Block has changed from “End Portal” to “End Portal Frame” (MCPE-76821)
      • Block of Amethyst is the new name for Amethyst Block (MCPE-125821)
      • Charcoal can now be used with Mangrove Log, Mangrove Wood, and Stripped Mangrove Wood to make a Campfire (MCPE-157271)
      • Campfires can now be stacked correctly once more (MCPE-159398)
      • Fixed a bug where breaking Pistons with the arm didn’t always drop the Piston item (MCPE-158314)
      • When a Villager is working at the Smithing Table, the sounds are now the same as when the player uses the table (MCPE-79716)
      • No longer can bells catch fire or be burned down by fire
      • Leaves from Mangrove and Azalea trees no longer stop trees from growing (MCPE-154980)
    • Sculk Blocks
      • Sculk Sensors will now only respond to the closest vibration if two are sent out at the same time (MCPE-155793)
      • If two vibrations happen at the same time and same distance, Sculk Sensors will now respond to the one with the highest frequency.
      • Sculk Sensors can now tell when a Creeper explodes 15 times per second and when an End Crystal explodes 15 times per second (MCPE-153733)
      • Sculk Sensors can now tell when a fish is taken out of a bucket every 12
      • Sculk Sensors can now tell when a Dispenser is firing TNT at a rate of 12 times per second.
      • Now, vibration particles always point in the direction of the target Sculk Sensor (MCPE-156648)
      • When a Sculk Catalyst blooms, it now makes the blooming sound (MCPE-153562)
      • If the Keep Inventory gamerule is set to True, Sculk Catalysts no longer spread Sculk when a player dies (MCPE-157884)
      • If a mob dies on top of a Sculk Catalyst, it no longer leaves behind Sculk Veins.
      • Now, the Sculk Catalyst blooms when a group of people with no experience dies next to it.
      • Bees, chickens, Allays, Phantoms, and Ender Dragons can now be found by Sculk Sensors (MCPE-153725, MCPE-154055)
      • Based on how far away a vibration was sent, Sculk Sensors can now send out the full range of Redstone signal strengths. Before, the results were either 1 or 15.
      • No longer do Sculk Sensors pick up on boats that are just sitting in the water (MCPE-155368)
      • Sculk Catalyst experience loss has been cut from 20 to 5. Sculk Patch features can now be put on more types of blocks (MCPE-156669)
    • Graphical
      • Fixed a bug that caused the player’s field of view to jump around when they ran while a speed effect was on.
      • With data-driven block tessellation, geometry box pivot-base rotation now turns around the right pivot point.
      • Fixed x-ray vision when Top Snow falls on top of the player, so it now acts like a solid block when Top Snow covers the player’s vision (MCPE-150709)
      • Fixed a problem with RTX on Windows in which point lights were mistakenly added to emissive blocks (MCPE-159485, MCPE-159488)
    • User Interface
      • The player’s assignment is now shown in the Toggle Perspective hint, instead of the default assignment.
      • The tooltip for the Saddled Pig now says “Ride” instead of “Mount.”
      • Large icons for texture tessellation now have warnings about what they contain (e.g. objects in hand)
      • When using the mouse and keyboard on iOS, a bug was fixed that made it so players couldn’t hover over UI elements inside a scroll view if a part of it was outside the view. This was because the scroll view automatically focused on the closest element that wasn’t clipped.
      • Items’ can place on blocks’ hover text is now always in the same order between game saves (MCPE-153516)
      • Oculus Goat’s controller settings tab has been taken away. The horn sound is now in the Settings menu under Jukebox/Note Blocks (MCPE-154885)
      • IPV6 addresses were not being saved in the Add Server feature (MCPE-66233)
    • Realms
      • Realms Plus FAQ was changed to make it clear that all Bedrock platforms can buy Realms Plus (MCPE-157869)
      • Fixed a bug that caused the Play screen to open when a new Realm was created instead of the Create New World screen.
      • Now, VR platforms have the button to take a screenshot from the Realms feed.
    • Spectator Mode (Experimental)
      • Taking away the ability to use emotes while in Spectator Mode
      • Now, a player can put blocks where a spectator is standing.
      • Players now have their hands back when they have one item in their offhand and another in their main hand and are holding a map. I’m not sure how they did it before…
        • The heads of spectators are now shown correctly as semi-transparent.
      • When in Spectator mode, Character Creator head items like hats, hoods, helmets, and so on now look right and are rendered as semi-transparent.
      • Capes and items with moving backs are no longer shown in Spectator mode (MCPE-156929)
      • Fans can no longer use portals or be affected by them (MCPE-156684)

Minecraft version 1.19.20 can now be downloaded by anyone with a Nintendo Switch.
