Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak – No Village Quests, several updates after launch

Capcom disclosed new information on Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, which will be released for the Nintendo Switch soon.

Master Rank Quests only

To begin, it has been revealed that the Sunbreak Expansion will not include any Village Quests, just Master Rank Quests. This information comes from a Famitsu interview with Director Yoshitake Suzuki. Suzuki mentioned in this interview that Master Rank Quests would operate similarly to Hub Quests in the original game, and may be done alone or with other players. He also went into detail about the Follower Quests that will be featured in Sunbreak, which look to be a substitute for Village Quests, enabling solo players to experience the DLC.

Multiplayer

One of the most appealing aspects of Monster Hunter is the multiplayer mode. However, we do have fans that prefer single-player games, so we added Rampage Quests in Monster Hunter Rise, which enabled NPCs from Kamura Village to assist the player character. We reasoned that allowing gamers to take on hunts with distinct personas would make for a more engaging experience. We chose to create Follower Quests for these reasons.

Post launch updates

Sunbreak will get multiple title upgrades after launch, as well as event missions, comparable to the original game, according to Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto in a separate interview with Dengeki. Although he was unable to comment on how many new monsters would be included, he did imply that Sunbreak will get a reasonable number of updates, stating:

It depends on who you ask what “long” implies, but I’ll say we’re “going to carry out multiple upgrades.”

The interview also delves further into the origins of a handful of the DLC’s new monsters, including verifying the long-held belief that Malzeno, Lunagaron, and Garangolm are inspired by the Vampire, Werewolf, and Frankenstein, respectively. With this in mind, any new monsters will most likely be based on Western or European mythology, as opposed to the initial game, which was mostly inspired by Japanese myth.
