Neopets possibly coming?

Neopets might bring back memories of the pet-raising internet browser game that took the world around the year 2000. The current development staff seem to have some interesting ideas on how to expand the game’s presence in the future!

The Neopets Team is apparently thinking of bringing the game to Nintendo Switch to “modernize the product and expand its audience” at least according to a Washington Post report.

New version of Neopets?

This is in the midst of The Neopets Team’s efforts to convert the original Neopets website from running on the decommissioned Adobe Flash plugin, and setting it up on more modern programming.

It’s also worth noting that The Neopets Team currently has an ongoing open beta for the game on mobile devices – so it’s not exactly a stretch that they’re considering other platforms outside PCs.

About Neopets

Neopets was a virtual pet website. Users can own virtual pets (“Neopets”), and buy virtual items for them using one of two virtual currencies. One currency, called Neopoints, can be earned within the site, and the other, Neocash, can either be purchased with real-world money, or won by chance in-game.

Neopets allowed users to create and care for digital pets called “Neopets” and explore the virtual world of Neopia. There is no set objective for the users, but they are expected to feed and care for their Neopets when they grow hungry or ill.

Neopets will not die if neglected, but their health can limit their gameplay.[2] Neopets come in a variety of species and colors and users can create or adopt their own. Users can obtain items to interact with their Neopet, such as books to read and toys to play with them. Neopets can be customized with certain clothing items, paintbrushes, morphing potions, and accessories.

Users can build a customizable Neohome for their Neopets and furnish it with furniture, wallpaper, and flooring. Neopets can battle against other Neopets or non-player characters in the Battledome but they cannot die there.
