Nintendo; No plans more Splatoon 2 Single-Player, premium releases

With the Octo Expansion out of the way, it appears as though Nintendo might not be looking to additional single-player experiences for Splatoon 2. Is that actually the case?

In a recent interview, producer Hisashi Nogami confirmed that he and his team have no current plans for more single-player, premium releases.  This could potentially change depending on the reception of Octo Expansion; however, on the other hand, further efforts and ideas may instead be shifted to the inevitable sequel.

It’s all about appeal

If the Octo Expansion would do extremely well. Nintendo might see this as a sign as to the market likes these premium paid releases. On the other hand the price card of $ 20 for the Octo Expansions might still be considered high. What do you guys think about the price point?

There are games which offer DLC for free and have gone above and beyond. Hollow Knight a game we have been playing quite a bit has includes DLC’s Hidden Dreams, The Grimme Troupe and Lifeblood directly on Nintendo Switch and the upcoming DLC Gods of Glory will be free as well. It should be noted that Hollow Knight’s developer, Team Cherry, has done this across the board as well.

Now we do understand that free is a bit of a thing, you need some return on the investment. But what would you really rather see?

1 – Premium paid updates like the Octo Expansion
2 – Those to be included in the Nintendo Switch Online subscription
3 – Season Passes
4 – Maybe something else (comment)
