Nintendo Switch 10 million

Nintendo Switch 10 million

That Nintendo Switch is a success, might be a huge understatement. But how is that translated into sales? Nintendo has answered that question.

Nintendo has sent a message into the world via Twitter, in which they announced that the latest Nintendo console has sold more than 10 million times in nine months.

These are very good figures, but they do not match the popularity of the Nintendo Wii. Which in a period of one year sold as many as 20 million times . With only three months before the end of  the fiscal Nintendo Switch year, it will not cross that gap. The sales will most likely amount to somewhere near the 13 – 14 million, which of course is still very well.

Nintendo has learned an awful lot when compared to the fiasco that was the Wii U. Note that we still say that with a lot of love for the Wii U. Unfortunately, the console had poor marketing and it was just perhaps a bit too much ahead of it’s time.

The steps that Nintendo has made with the Nintendo Switch are extremely well and we still see the Nintendo Switch beat the Wii when it comes down to number of units sold in the course of the consoles lifespan. For good order they have to tap the 102 million, that’s an end away but we wish Nintendo that type of success more then ever.

For a comparison with the ‘poor’ Wii U which is it’s lifespan sold approximately 14 million. So if we just keep the sales forecast as valid than the Wii U in one year was overtaken by Nintendo Switch. Impressive piece of Nintendo Power!
