Nintendo recently released an update for the Nintendo Switch firmware and although the update brought the version to 12.0.0, the official patch notes where unusually small, when considering a major version jump.
It seems Nintendo did add something
Something seems to have been snuck into the update’s code. It has been discovered by data-miners that the update has added the ability for the Nintendo Switch dock’s firmware to be updated.
A lot of people have been giving theories on why Nintendo did this, and especially in complete silence. We personally think this has to do with (of course) the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro, but we also think it could do something in regard to back compatibility with the current Nintendo Switch consoles.
But would it mean there is no new dock coming with a Nintendo Switch Pro? Honestly we don’t know, at least until Nintendo comments on the matter.
