A new Nintendo Switch firmware update was due for a while now. There hasn’t been one since December, and it was a rather small one and is this new one.
Nintendo released version 12.0.0
You may be surprised to hear that, despite the version number change, The update is even smaller than the version 11.0.1 update that released in December.
All Nintendo says in the official patch notes is that they “fixed the issue with the save data backup feature, where in rare cases, the automatic backup of save data is interrupted if a communication error occurs during completion of the save data backup process”.
It likely has some new stability and security updates packed in there but it by no means is a minor change with this major version change.
