Nintendo Switch OLED Model to be released January 11th 2022 in mainland China

Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Switch OLED variant will be released in mainland China next week, on January 11th. This comes after the original Nintendo Switch model was introduced to mainland China in 2019 and three months after the worldwide introduction of the OLED variant last year.

The price will be RMB 2599, and the digital shop will only be available in China.

Faster than before

This is a “quick turnaround” for a Nintendo Switch family system between worldwide and mainland China launches, according to industry expert Daniel Ahmad. Ahmad also used the opportunity to point out that the Nintendo Switch is now the country’s fastest-selling console.

Another thing to notice is that, despite having released considerably earlier than the OLED variant, the Nintendo Switch Lite has yet to obtain an official release in China. The reasons for this are unclear, although it’s possible that Nintendo wants to emphasize the Switch’s hybrid character, which was eliminated from the Nintendo Switch Lite in favor of better mobility.
