Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack – 47K Dislikes

Nintendo recently released an overview trailer for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which revealed the launch date and pricing. The trailer received a massive amount of dislikes on Youtube. As of writing, the video has 15K likes and 47K dislikes.

This is a much higher amount of dislikes for a typical Nintendo presentation and might just be one of the biggest disliked videos ever.

Disliking for a reason

The reason behind the dislikes could be the somewhat absurd price increase  Nintendo is asking for the Expansion Pack. The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack will require players to pay an additional $30USD on top of the basic subscription to access the additional content if they want it for single use.

A lot of fans feel that the amount of content offered is currently not worth this amount.

Not enough choice in the matter

And to make things worse, some even ask why it was at all bundled with Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Designer DLC. Because while the title is populair not everyone is an Animal Crossing player. Take that bonus away and the content offered weighs up even less to the amount of prices increased.

But it keeps getting worse; You don’t even own the Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Designer DLC afterwards if you stop the NSO subscription. Leading to a lot of fans not liking how Nintendo went about this entire situation.

Family pass is the only ok option

Let’s be honest the only ok deal in this all will be a family pass for Nintendo Switch Online. As cost then drops significantly. But Nintendo can not expect everyone to go that route. Being a single Nintendo Switch user without, and this is going to sound very harsh, Nintendo Switch friends simply feels like you are being punished for wanting more.

From a business standpoint I can see why Nintendo has gone this road. But they should think more pro consumer then pro money if you ask me.
