Octopath Traveler should have featured a more elaborate HD Rumble

While Octopath Traveler’s HD Rumble was not too bad in any way or form, the developers at Square Enix originally had bigger ambitions about utilising the Nintendo’s Switch HD Rumble.

To rumble or not to rumble

Speaking  to Nintendo Dream, game producer, Tomoya Asano, said that they originally tried the HD Rumble on a variety of unique situations, even simulating footsteps.

However, the team thought that the use of HD Rumble in a lot these situations would negatively impact the game’s experience For that reason these additions were removed from the final game we now know as Octopath Traveler.

About the HD Rumble

Nintendo Switch’s HD Rumble is an awesome system when utilised well. Not a lot of people liked 1-2 Switch it seems but HD Rumble really shined in that game in various forms.

Hopefully, more developers will experiment with it just like Square Enix did and will decide to keep it. If it annoys us as gamers we will surely voice that … and an update can bound change the functionality.
