Overwatch 2 is coming!

BlizzCon, where Blizzard loves to make major announcements, such as the reveal of brand new games took place and Blizzard announced Overwatch 2.

Nintendo Switch bound?!

The game will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. What may surprise you is that none of the official trailers, art and screenshots that Blizzard released mentioned the Nintendo Switch at all.

In fact, the confirmation of a Nintendo Switch version of Overwatch 2 was only found in the fact sheet that came with Blizzard’s press release, as well as a confirmation at a BlizzCon Overwatch panel.

The Overwatch 2 cinematic begins with the reassembled crew dropping into Paris to fight a Null Sector invasion. Whoops, and now there’s a super giant omnic with a massive red laser beam. Mei’s injured in the fight — and Winston stays behind to hold the line, not before Genji, Reinhardt, Brigitte, Mercy, and Echo drop in.

A few heroes clearly have a totally new look — and maybe some new abilities.

Despite introducing a story mode, Blizzard isn’t dropping the competitive multiplayer. A new competitive mode, called Push, was also showcased at BlizzCon 2019. Overwatch players will play on all the same maps as Overwatch 2 players, including the new maps.

They’ll also get all the same heroes — “a shared multiplayer environment where no one gets left behind,” Kaplan said. Progress, too, will move forward into Overwatch 2.

That said, Blizzard did not give a release date for Overwatch 2 for the time being.
